Tonight I dealt with one band member who resigned from his position as “shotgun vocalist” due to illness, leaving the majority of songs incomplete of bad-assness; another, whose routine lack of comprehension was infected by a faulty guitar-strap, missed so many notes I asked him to sit down and play on his knee three times; evidentially he did not want to. The third band member ran into technical difficulties he simply could not bare. While the dilemma was certainly significant, his frustration tolerance is notoriously low; and tonight, although far from a disaster, was no psychological breakthrough. Ironically, the night’s bright spot shined on the often skittish greenhorn who kept his cool through numerous audibles and stepped up in the clutch during some of the before-mentioned bloopers. His unique skill was on display and his value was never felt more than the one time he missed par. As the crowd slowed to a screeching halt, the greenhorn found his cue and delivered a mediocre performance saving the show.

I did not come close to playing a perfect game.

My preparation was the most lacking factor. The lights need improving We need more time for soundcheck. I forgot about the cell phone; we all did.

I missed some notes but I contend that the brain-fart was caused by the persistent surveillance I had no choice but to undertake.

We must drastically improve. The “Commoners” schedule does not work for us. We must be well rehearsed for every single show and do more homework.

Tuesday night, the Arkansas Basketball Razorbacks were outmatched by No. 2 Kentucky in Lexington. The worst part is the fact that the Wildcats didn’t really need to best shot-blocker since David Robinson to keep the Hogs’ shooting percentage low… but it sure didn’t hurt. Anthony Davis is ridiculous, but the Razorbacks’ resolve is not far off under Coach Mike Anderson. The 2011-2012 Razorback Basketball Team is not loaded with talent, missing a true big-man and still young in the back-court, but when that whistle blows, they come to play. They’re not scared, and they don’t quit. This spells trouble for the rest of the SEC as Hogs Basketball, under its new leadership, is on the up-and-up, and nobody doubts it. Their fierce style of play is going to burn a trail through the SouthEastern Conference in the coming years and I for one, can’t wait to watch it! So to the rest of the SEC and NCAA for that matter, get ready for 40 Minutes!

Giants @ Packers Sunday!
For a realistic chance at a spot in the NFC Championship Game, the New York Football Giants must get 6 when they’re in the red zone and win the turnover battle says NYG Insider, Jeremy Franks. Franks goes on to say that if the Giants defense can force Packers QB and soon-to-be NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers throw within 3 seconds of the snap, it will neutralize the Packers’ deep targets and we will have a repeat of the last time the NYG visited Lambeau Field for a playoff game. It is up to the front line of the Giants to win this football game by getting past Green Bay’s wounded offensive line. Do you think there is a more pivotal aspect of this game? As rabid Hogg fans, The Poggs’ official reaction to last night’s BCS Championship Game is DAMN! These two squads got together and had that kind of backyard brawl that no sensible person truly enjoys watching. The boys on both squads were hitting harder than anything we’ve seen all season, and when punches are that hard, someone’s bound to get knocked out. LSU did. The only thing worse than watching two juggernauts slam each other around is knowing that you have to fight both of them next year, and that’s Arkansas’ position. If there is anything to take away from this game as a Hogg fan, it is that our division, the toughest in the country, is only going to get tougher. Physically our front line will have to evolve as dramatically as our finesse players have. Auburn didn’t win this monster division in 2010 with the greatest offensive player in NCAA history alone, it needed all-american play from the most dominant defensive lineman in the sport (Nick Fairly) as well. Arkansas must develop physical players capable of not just holding their own, but taking over games. A dominant defense similar to those displayed in last night’s game WILL propel Arkansas to the top of college football due to the enigmatic offensive mind of our short-fused leader, Bobby Petrino. It’s an uphill battle, our enemies are formidable, but it’s sure nice to be able to pinpoint one weakness as opposed to being bewildered. We’ve got work to do; let’s go ahead and do it.

One of the newest and coolest places to kick it in Fayetteville, Arkansas is Lit Lounge off of West Street in the downtown area. This new-aged juke-joint consistently offers unique entertainment from heavy electronic, to smooth hip hop, to party rock-n-roll shows. The Poggs, performing at Lit January 28, will be a bit of all three. With ProSound Consulting teaming up with the powerhouse rocking quintet once again, this show is sure to be a maximum overload of lights, sound, and groove. The door price, currently resting at zero, shakes this night up so much that it’s sure to overflow, covering those lucky enough to attend in savory home-cooking.
